White Sox Game - July 4, 2022 - Bottom of 7th

The crazy 7th inning - condensed version

Jose Abreu leading off, 1-2 pitch grazes his upper left arm.
Ump sez no - Sox appeal - takes awhile.
Slo-mo replays clearly show ball changing direction at Abreu's arm.
New York doesn't see it that way and upholds ump's no-contact call.
It's rare that NY blows it on appeals, but they did this one.
Just as well - 3 pitches later, Abreu bounces one over left center wall for GR double.

Gavin Sheets gets hit by pitch on left foot.

Yoan Moncada singles to left center, scoring Abreu, Sheets stopping at 2nd.
Tie game and Adam Engel comes in to pinch run for Sheets.

So now Moncada on first, Engel on second, AJ Pollock batting.
0-2, Pollock hits high fly ball to the wall in right center.
Thinking the ball is over CF Byron Buxton's head, Moncada & Engel take off running.
Neither tags up.

Buxton makes a great catch with his back to the infield.
He throws to Gio Urshela (3B), Urshela tags out Moncada who had rounded 2nd,
then trots over to step on 2nd for 3rd out by Engel, completing the triple play.
So the scoring was triple play 8-5 and everybody is wondering WTF just happened.
It was the first time that ever happened in MLB history.

The only thing I think that's weirder is unassisted triple plays.
There's been a dozen or so in MLB history.
Later in the game, LaRussa gets ejected.
